How OGify works

OGify previews Open Graph metadata for any URL directly inside your browser. When you click the extension icon, it reads the meta tags from the current page and displays how the link will appear on various social platforms. We do not run servers, collect analytics, or store any of your browsing data.

Data collection

  • No URLs or page content are sent to OGify servers—there are none.
  • No telemetry, crash reports, or usage analytics are collected.
  • No sign-in, email address, or personal identifiers are required.

Browser permissions

OGify only requests minimal permissions needed to function:

  • activeTab — grants temporary access to read the current tab's content only when you click the extension icon. No access to other tabs or browsing history.
  • scripting — required to inject the script that reads OG meta tags from the page DOM.

You can adjust or revoke these permissions any time from chrome://extensions.

Third-party services

OGify does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. No network requests are made—OGify reads meta tags directly from the page you're viewing.

Data retention

OGify does not retain any data. Each time you open the preview panel, OG metadata is fetched fresh and displayed. Closing the panel discards all fetched data. Removing the extension erases all stored preferences instantly.
